September 20, 2016 – Yaradua’s Wife Orders Police To Arrest 70-Year-Old Domestic Servant Over Missing Rice, Family Begs Buhari For Help
Former First Lady, Hajiya Turai Yar’Adua, wife of the late President Umaru Yar’Adua, has handed over to the police her 70-year-old domestic servant, Malam Yusuf Jikwando and his two sons, over missing foodstuffs and an undisclosed amount of money.
Jikwando, who is the longest serving domestic servant to the Yar’Adua family, was allegedly arrested two days before Eid-el Kabir in his house at Samji Quarters in Katsina. It was learnt that the arrest followed Turai’s directive to the state Commissioner of Police, Abdullahi Mohammed.
A man close to the family said that five well-armed policemen invaded Jikwando’s house and searched the entire house, but only found three measures of rice and a quarter bag of maize. According to him, Jikwando’s eldest son and second to the last born were later arrested.
He said while Jikwando’s family members and relatives tried to go and see the former first lady in Abuja over the arrests, five people, among them the man’s wife, had an accident near Kankara village. According to him, the victims sustained serious injuries.
Sources said Jikwando served the Yar’Adua family for over 40 years and was never found wanting by the late President. According to one of Jikwando’s sons, the family hardly eats three square meals a day despite their father’s closeness to the Yar’Adua family. He said their father celebrated the Eid-el Kabir in Katsina prison without being taken to court. The son said Turai was not specific in her complaint against his father.
The Jikwando family members appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari, Governor Bello Masari of Katsina State and the Human Rights Commission to come to their aid. According to them, injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.

Abuja Lawyer Condemns Increasing Rate Of Divorce Among Nigerians, Urges Churches To Do Counselling

September 20, 2016 – Abuja Lawyer Condemns Increasing Rate Of Divorce Among Nigerian Couples, Urges Churches To Do Counselling
Mrs. Theresa Mbanifo, a Lawyer based in Abuja has cautioned against rising cases of divorce petitions in the country.
Mbanifo in Dutse, Abuja, on Tuesday, said that with exceptions of abuse in marriages, spouses must learn to tolerate each other’s eccentricities.
She identified the causes of divorce to include wife battering, intolerance and infidelity, among others.
According to her, relevant institutions, groups and agencies must embark on campaign against causes of divorce, while sensitising couples on the need to be tolerant and patience.
“For me, I expect to see less divorce cases in courts as we begin this new legal year.
“In as much as it is our job to fight for or against cases like that while earning a living in the process, I plead with spouses to think thoroughly before filing such petitions.
“Some of us still believe in the institution of marriage, if not, for the sake of other parties involved like the children.
“I must say, it is disheartening to see homes break up after several years of togetherness but if any party is being abused in the process, why not.”
Mbanifo also called on churches to do more of counselling on divorce than soliciting for funds, adding that churches were the foundation on which the home was built
She, however, said that spouses must look up to God in times of crisis, adding that mutual understanding among spouses was a basic ingredient for any successful marriage.

Actions Nigerians Need To Take To End The Economic Recession

nigeria end economic recession
September 21, 2016 – Actions Nigerians Need To Take To End The Economic Recession
The economy of any nation revolves around her citizens, and Nigeria is no exception. Economic ventures such as trade, agriculture, transportation, commercial services, and manufacturing, are owned and operated by the citizens. The strength of the economy of a nation is largely affected by the roles the citizens play.
At the heart of Nigeria’s current economic recession is decline in government revenues and scarcity of foreign exchange. Is the government solely to be blamed for the economic recession? A nation does not make men, men make a nation, Nigeria eventually becomes what we the citizens make it to be.
Nigerians are reported to spend billions of dollars yearly for the importation of food items, pharmaceutical items, refined petroleum products, clothing and textiles, vehicles, machines and equipments. Billions of dollars is also spent on medical treatments, educational services, luxury goods, weddings, celebrations, and vacations abroad.
Today the Indian economy has achieved an impressive level of self-sufficiency in food production, refining of petroleum products, manufacturing of goods, production of pharmaceutical items, standard hospitals and educational facilities, and a wide range of goods for exports. The success story of India was brought about by the active involvement of her citizens through massive investments and patriotism.
To overcome the current Nigerian economic recession, collective and concerted actions must be carried out by the citizens.
ACTIONS NIGERIANS NEED TO TAKE TO END THE ECONOMIC RECESSION
1. We need to be patriotic ; unpatriotic activities such as hoarding of goods, over pricing of goods and services, production and sales of substandard goods, hoarding and laundering of foreign currencies, contributes to our economic problems.
2. Patronising made in Nigeria goods and services ; business owners in Nigeria can only expand their operations when they make more revenues from the sales of goods and services, this will lead to creation of more jobs.
3. Increased investment in commercial agriculture ; Nigerian business men and women need to invest more in large scale farming, this will help in lowering the prices of food items, creating more jobs, and reduction of food importation. A well planned and managed farming business will yield a good return on investment.
4. Investment in standard health care facilities ; Nigerians spend large amounts of foreign exchange annually travelling abroad to access health care services, private investors in the health care sector, should upgrade the standard of their facilities to attract more patronage.
5. Investment in standard educational services ; large amounts of foreign exchange is spent by Nigerian parents to send their children to school abroad. The provision of standard and world class educational facilities would go a long way in conserving the nation’s foreign exchange.
6. Increased investment in small and medium scale manufacturing ; to grow the Nigerian economy, and move away from import dependence, the citizens have to invest in manufacturing of goods.
7. Investment in export businesses ; the devalued exchange rate of the Naira makes Nigerian goods cheap for foreign buyers, investors experienced in export business need to key into this available opportunity.
The citizens of Nigeria have a part to play to end the nation’s economic crisis, we need to get to work and help put the economy on the path of recovery.

Hilda Dokubo Advices Young Couples & Nollywood Stars Giving Sex For Movie Roles

hilda dokubo latest news
September 22, 2016 – Nollywood Actress Hilda Dokubo Advices Young Couples & Movie Stars Giving Sex For Movie Roles
Excerpts from Hilda Dokubo’s recent chat with TS Weekender
You quit Nollywood for some years, are you finally back into the industry?
I needed a break at the time that I took a break. I needed a break, I wanted to do something else, I wanted to give back to the society, and I wanted to go to school. I wanted to work with regular people, so I took some break to achieve these things. You know, there are times in your life that you feel like there is something that you need to do, and you need to do it quickly. I have done that, so the break time is over, and I’m back to my business.
How would you advise young couples in Nollywood to safeguard their marriages?
Don’t safeguard it (Laughs). Just love it. Love your home, love the man, and love your kids. Do the best you can, respect everyone including yourself. Respect what you do, don’t force it. Somebody will love and respect you. And don’t try to shy away from making mistakes; just live your life one day at a time, loving who you are. And let the love inside you show on the outside. If you make any mistake, be quick to say ‘I am sorry’. And mean it. It’s one thing to say ‘I am sorry’ and it’s another thing not to mean it. When you are sorry, it means, you will not do that thing again. So, learn how to apologise, don’t feel too big. By the way, this is your husband, and you can’t be too big for him.
At what point, does a young actress say she cannot go on with her marriage?
When it becomes very abusive. Any man who is a real man will never abuse his wife.
What if she catches him cheating?
You know I’m a Christian, I’m born again, and I’m a minister so no ground is good enough. The Bible charges a man to love his wife as God loves the church. God has not abandoned us because of our sins, even when He caught us red-handed. He still loves us; He’s still giving us the best of help. However, your inner strength should tell you that you have to be morally upright. If you are morally upright, you are not doing it for anyone but for yourself. So, do the best that you can be proud of.
A lot of young actresses are desperate for roles; some pay or even give sex for role. What advice do you have for them?

Don’t give anything other than your talent. If anybody has to pay here then they should pay you. Come on, you have the talent, love it, do your work and that should pay you.

Okonkwo said that he accepted to smuggle drugs because of frustration and also because he needed money to leave Brazil.
Ifedigbo on the other hand said he became a drug courier because he was looking at the profit margin. NDLEA agents arrested the suspects at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA) Lagos, on Nigeria-Brazil route.
They were arrested during the inward screening of passengers on a Royal Air Maroc flight from Sao Paulo, Brazil through Casablanca, Morocco. The agency recovered 700g of powdery substance that tested positive for cocaine from the two suspects.
Okonkwo said: “I was stranded in Brazil where I worked as a waiter in a restaurant for two years. Life was awful as I struggled daily to feed myself. When I was contacted to smuggle cocaine to Nigeria, I was very happy because it was an opportunity to return home.
My sponsor also promised to pay me N500,000, with which I had planned to start a business.”
Ifedigbo, who has also spent two years in Brazil, described his arrest as a stroke of ill-luck.
He said: “I’m a businessman. I import female shoes from Brazil since 2014.
This arrest is just bad luck for me because I was already calculating my profit from the deal.”
