Corrupt Oil Marketers Diverting Fuel For Huge Profit Behind Fuel Scarcity – NNPC

Dec25,2017 – Corrupt Oil Marketers Diverting Fuel For Huge Profit Behind Fuel Scarcity – NNPC
PMB has ordered security agencies to beef up surveillance and enforce distribution of petroleum products to intended destinations.
The Group Managing Director, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Dr Maikanti Baru, said this while briefing newsmen on steps the government had taken to ease persistent fuel diversions around the country.
According to Baru, he had briefed the President on issues surrounding the fuel situation including marketers diverting the product and selling above the cap of N145.
He said, “President Muhammadu Buhari has directed that we contain the situation. What I can assure is that Mr. President has already responded as part of the discussion we had yesterday.
“On his Twitter handle, Mr President has indicated that parts of our discussions was to get the regulatory and security agencies to beef up their surveillance and enforcement of distribution of products.
“Part of my briefing to him was that there is still significant hoarding and diversion where trucks that are loaded to supply products to specific stations get diverted elsewhere as well as smuggled out of the country.
“Mr President’s immediate response was to direct the boarder agencies as well as internally, the security and regulatory agencies to ensure that all trucks that are loading deliver to the stations they are meant to deliver.’’
Baru, while fielding questions assured Nigerians that petroleum product was available, adding that in spite of high landing costs, the price of petrol would not increase.
“We need the people to understand that we have products but the issue of diversion, smuggling, profiteering have been brought to the fore.
“Appropriate sanctions would be meted out. Price would not increase despite landing costs of fuel. The landing cost goes with the Cost Insurance Freight (CIF) price of petrol.
“As of Friday, the CIF price was in the neighborhood of 620 dollars per metric tonne with the official exchange rate of N305 to the dollar, the loading cost should be N171.40 per litre.
“I urge marketers to do what they were doing before which is selling below the cap of N139 to N145 per liter. If the landing costs is N171 and we sell to marketers at N133.28, they still have profit.
“I urge them to make the lives of Nigerians more comfortable. There would be no price increase of petrol,’’ he reiterated.
He said the queues would disappear in two days maximum as about 13 vessels were presently discharging petroleum products at various seaports across the country.
He said the vessels had a total of 650 million litres, more vessels were expected to berth before the end of the week.
“Hence, the Navy, NIMASSA , Customs and all stakeholders have been directed by the Federal Government to expedite clearance and anchorage services to facilitate speedy products transfers to various depots.
“In addition to regular supply circle, NNPC has programmed the delivery of additional 300 million litres in December 2017 to January 2018 to beef up national reserve to 45 million litres per day,’’’ he said.
He said the Department of Petroleum Resources, Petroleum Equalisation Fund and the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency have scaled up monitoring activities to ensure seamless and compliant loading and dispensing of petrol nationwide.
In addition to these measures, Baru said the Kaduna Petrochemical Refining Company supplied one million litres daily and in all contributed about 16 million litres while the Port Harcourt Refinery supplied 2.8 million daily and 45 million litres in total since the crisis began.
He said that with the appreciated all stakeholders and urged Nigerian to stop patronising black marketers as adequate products were available to serve all.
Commenting on allegation by marketers that government wants to increase the pump price due to the high Landing cost, he described it as false.
Baru went round various filling stations in Abuja and interfaced with motorists and station managers, urging for calm and assuring that an end was in sight to the long queues.

Innoson Motor Boss & Brother Charged By EFCC For Defrauding GTBank

December 25,2017 – Innoson Motor Boss & Brother Charged By EFCC For Defrauding GTBank
The EFCC has filed a fraud charge against Mr. Innocent Chukwuma, alias Innoson, his company Innoson Nigeria Limited and his brother Charles Chukwuma.
The charge was dated 30 November, 2017 and filed at a Lagos High Court.
In the case, the EFCC is accusing Innoson of obtaining containers of motorcycles spare parts by false pretences between 2009 and July 2011 in Lagos, ‘with intent to defraud’.
The goods, said to be property of Guaranty Trust Bank Plc, were allegedly obtained from Mitsui O.S.K Lines Limited in Apapa.
The anti-graft agency claims that Innocent Chukwuma and Charles Chukwuma, “with intent to defraud induced the staff of Mitsui O.S.K and Maersk Line Limited to deliver”, to them through their clearing agents, the motor cycle spare parts, moulds of spare parts and steel structures and raw materials called polyvinlchlorid, imported from China.
The charge said the accused falsely pretended that they were authorised by GTB to clear the goods and take delivery of them.
EFCC had on Tuesday arrested Innoson in Enugu, stirring some controversy that the arrest bore some ethnic motive and that the agency should not have waded into a dispute between GTB and the businessman.
Central to this was the story that the parties were locked in a dispute over illegal deductions from Innoson’s accounts by the GTB, with Innoson claiming that the bank was indebted to him and his company to the tune of billions of naira.
In press and TV interviews, he said he had gotten judgement at both lower and appelate courts and that the GTB has an appeal at the Supreme Court.
GTB responded tersely that it would not join issues with the businessman as the issues between them are in the court.
The EFCC in releasing Innoson on bail Wednesday, explained that he was arrested after he refused to honour invitations by the Commission. He had been arrested by the commission before and granted administrative bail. But he reneged on the bail and his surety could also not be found.
The agency said Innoson and his brother, Charles Chukwuma (who is still at large), were being investigated by the Insurance and Capital Market Fraud Section of the Commission’s office in Lagos over matters bordering on N1.47billion fraud and forgery and other infractions. He was also alleged to have used forged documents to secure tax waivers.
‘Unfortunately the industrialist resisted arrest and stirred controversy by bringing six truck-loads of thugs to block the entrance to his Plot W1, Industrial Layout, Abakaliki Road, Emeni, Enugu, home.
”This was after he initially misled the Police Command by informing them that his home had been invaded by armed robbers and kidnappers despite the fact that operatives of the Commission duly identified themselves to policemen guarding his home.
”His unruly thugs encircled and manhandled operatives of the Commission who had gone to effect the arrest.
“Consequently, a distress call was sent to the Commission’s Enugu Office for reinforcement.
`’In all of this, the Commission’s operatives acted with decorum and civility.
”No one was manhandled or assaulted by the EFCC team, and not a single shot was fired, despite the provocation”. [NAN]

7 Reasons up and coming Artists Never blow

A
Most upcoming artistes fail to blow not by destiny or ill luck, but as a result of lack of priorities, styles and many more which we shall discuss.
1. They Don’t Advertise Themselves
If you think miracle is all you need to blow, then you must be seriously sleeping on a moving bicycle. To blow in Nigeria, you have to advertise yourself aggressively and give it whatever it takes. As a matter of fact, it’s not a bad idea advertising that track of yours on Naijaloaded where we have music freaks who are always at alert to download Naijaloaded front page musics, and may not even hesitate to share it with their friends if it’s really worth it. You can ask Qdot and Olamide, they will confirm to you that good music will surely help your Career.
2. They Patronize Cheap Producers
You need not sing like Michael Jackson before you blow. However, the impact of good production cannot be overemphasized anytime any day. Most upcoming artistes may not blow because they always patronize backyard producers who will produce 5 tracks for them at the rate of N10, 000. Ooooh common that ridiculously cheap !!.
We know you are not rich yet! But at least, spending as little as N20, 000 to produce a single track is much more better than seeking producers who produce 5 tracks for N10, 000
3. Lack of Creativity
What makes one stand out amongst his peers is creativity and uniqueness. However, many upcoming artistes fail to get to the peak of their dreams not because witches and wizards are following them, but because they are not creative in any way.
4. Pride
Pride is also a determinant of how far one will go in his music career. However, it is very evident that it’s the habit of most upcoming artistes to always give people a false sense of their financial status through their dressings, spending and what not. They are sometimes proud that they raise shoulders to people who are meant to help or make their dreams come true in a little way they can. This is one of the reasons why many of them have failed to blow
5. Poor Dress Sense
They say your appearance is the first letter of recommendation. The mode of dressing of many upcoming artistes is sometimes childish and annoying. You see many of them dressing like masquerades; looking unkempt, poor colour combination, unattractive hairstyle, and many more which I cannot mention. The truth of the matter is that, when your appearance cannot catch people”s fancy, how do you convince them to listen to your track?
6. Immature Lyrics
Good lyrics and punch lines is all you need to at least gain some recognition. When you listen to the songs of many upcoming artistes, you will keep wondering if the songs was composed within the ambit of 5mins. That is, they sing a chorus repeatedly for about three minutes after which a verse will follow suite and that’s the end of the song. Haba !!! It may be working for Vizkid but that doesn’t mean you should try that
7. Imitating The Style Of Others
To succeed in life, you have to do something others are not doing, or what they have never done. As a matter of fact, we know that 2face already has his own style and that’s his brand, so why copy his style as a leverage to also get to limelight ?, when you know that you may be seen as a copy cat . Try to build up your own styleMost upcoming artistes fail to blow not by destiny or ill luck, but as a result of lack of priorities, styles and many more which we shall discuss.

How Nigerians are making Christmas a Hard time for each other

nigerians making life hard each other christmas
Friday December 25, 2017 – How Nigerians Are Making Christmas A Hard Time For Each Other
By Gbolahan Adetayo
As the celebration of the birthday of the Lord Jesus Christ and New Year approach, a lot have been put in place globally for the preparation. One of which is to celebrate with one another by giving out gift items especially to masses. In advanced countries, yuletide is a charitable season, where goods are discounted. Particularly food items, home appliances and many more. In fact, in some cases, multinational companies also seek the season to appreciate its clienteles. But all these become mere history in the ears of self-serving Nigerians who picture the season in their minds as a period to enrich their pockets and inconvenient others.
These claims usually occur among the less educated Nigerians and some other industries that the government has control over. A good example of this is the increment in lubricant price allegedly magnified by big players in that sector without the government’s knowledge.
Lately in Nigeria, starting from about 10 years ago, fuel scarcity has been a force to reckon with in Decembers either from the government or independent marketers, hoarding the fuel to create an impression that it is hard to get crude from the market. This, will automatically enable them peddle the oil at a price of their choice. This will not only inconvenient people but generate unnecessary traffic across the country especially in some commercial states like Lagos, Oyo, Ogun, Benin city, Port-Harcourt, Warri, Kano, Kaduna and Abuja.
Another crucial sector seeking the government’s attention, not just during any season but at all times, is the transportation industry. In Lagos for example, anytime it rains or there is traffic which may not last for an hour, you will be overwhelmed with the crowd, standing at different bus terminals, hoping to see a bus going to their various destinations. The exercise may take quite a few hours and peradventure, after getting one, the price will totally be outrageous and when asked, you get trivial responses from the conductor and his driver.
It will not be fair enough, if the roles of traders and market women are not mentioned in the list of Nigerians making Christmas a hard time for people. This is because they are the force of all seasons. You will quite agree that at all Festive seasons {Christmas, New Year, Easter and especially Salah celebration} the traders and market women always increase the price of their goods, without any tangible reason.
One becomes frantic and frustrated because the goods are very essential to him/her but they are not affordable. At this point, a frustrated person may think otherwise and be lured into ungodly acts to make money, in order for the unaffordable goods become cheaper to him or her.
Those in the clothing and textile industry are not left out in this wicked act. Before yuletide, clothes, either locally made or foreign attires are always affordable between January and November, because the people patronizing them within that period do that by choice not priority. Some even go to them whenever they have family functions. Immediately after the yuletide comes, the clothing prices sky rocket.
Asking them why the goods are too expensive, they most time respond that they are collecting yuletide money “Owo Odun”. Forgetting the fact that the people buying these {goods, petroleum products or boarding public transports} didn’t receive “Owo Odun” from their various employers. The area in which the Federal Government of Nigeria and even state governments are lagging behind is decision making on some important national issues that will affect Nigerians positively.
In a situation where some filling stations are inflating the price of petrol without the government’s idea, it will be nice if such stations are shut down immediately while their licenses are revoked. The honourable minister for Transportation and Commissioner for transportation in every state in Nigeria should endeavor to monitor the activities running in each area of their states from time to time.
For instance, Oshodi to Iyana Oworo/New Garage initially has a fixed price of N50 but as soon as December syndrome kicked off, it has now escalated to N100 while some buses demands N200 whenever there is a heavy traffic. In this case, if the commissioner for transportation in Lagos state has been monitoring this pricing activity even before now, the zonal chairman of the terminal would be expected to be sacked or shut down such terminal.
One of the excuses given by traders and market women during festive season is that, there is always increment in transportation that conveys the goods to where they will be sold. The textile and clothing industry sometimes also complain of such. Invariably, government policy in the transportation industry is key to achieving a worthy and less expensive yuletide celebration.

Frank Edoho: I Left WWTBAM To Host The Price Is Right Nigeria Because I Wasn’t Promoted

frank edoho the price is right nigeria
December 24, 2017 – Frank Edoho: I Left WWTBAM To Host The Price Is Right Nigeria Because I Was Not Promoted To The Executive Producer
TV Host Frank Edoho seems to have been prominent on television screens forever. Recently announced as host of the Nigerian version of the hugely exciting TV game show, he speaks to Adedayo Odulaja on what drives him, what he’s been working on and more in this interview.
How did you become a part of the new TV game show you will start anchoring soon?
Well I was jobless. When I left Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, it was because I felt I couldn’t go on with the same conditions, so I just said ‘maybe it’s time to take a break.’ I didn’t know about The Price is Right Nigeria when I left but it only came much later.
Did the breakdown in negotiations have anything to do with pay?
Of course, almost everything around negotiation is about pay, one way or another.
So one can say you were offered less to go on?
No, the thing about it is this. You have hosted a show for 13 years and the sponsor leaves and a new sponsor comes, I believe that I should be an Executive Producer for the show. That I should be elevated, my belief is for things to be done right and that’s how it is done abroad.
Look at Trevor Noah who took over from John Stewart on The Daily Show, he came on as presenter but now Trevor Noah is Executive Producer less than a year after he took over. So I feel we should do things that way as well as in Nigeria but they didn’t want to, so I said ‘no problem.’ Then we started other aspects of the negotiation and it wasn’t working out so I decided to bow out.
Will your new show, The Price is Right, follow the same format of a game show like WWTBAM?
Yes, it is a game show.
So will participants come on the show as well?
Yes, we are going to have players for the show. As a matter of fact, we are going to have a demo right here, that is why they are setting up the stage as you can see it now. It is not just a game but a series of games and I can tell you it will be very exciting.
Are you still going to be the one to handle people on the hot seat?
No, there is no hot seat. It is not a game based on the WWTBAM format. That is more about drama and people winning money but in this one, all members of the audience are contestants so we randomly pick from the audience and they come and start playing. It is really fast-paced, high-octane and spontaneous like that and the prices are there.
In terms of engagement and looking at the drama you brought on in WWTBAM, what are you looking forward to in The Price is Right?
This one is different and you have to go with the format. If it needs me to give drama, I’d give the drama, if it needs me to give suspense, I’d give suspense but this one is more of creating that atmosphere of fun.
As a matter of fact it is just like anchoring a game show as MC and if anything happens as part of my experience from my broadcasting journey and my WWTBAM days, I can apply that experience to this show but it is more fast-paced and of a different format.
The producers, Genesis Studios, just announced that they signed a five-year deal with the franchise owners. Does that mean you are in for that long also?
No, it doesn’t mean that. For me, it is a new place and the contract I signed is for less. I did WWTBAM for 13 years, I must have signed contracts up to five times to renew.
I think it’s not wise for anybody, even you, that takes you down for so long. Because anything can happen, what if the economy becomes worse? You have tied yourself and your family’s fortunes to it and you can’t renegotiate and you have to do it for that length of time.
With The Price is Right being a global show and of such historical value, what are you really bringing on the Nigerian edition?
I am bringing Frank, my experience as a broadcaster, that is all I can rely on at this point. I am not one of those people that would say because I have been on WWTBAM for 13 years, which some people say is a phenomenal achievement, that means these people are lucky to have me. I am just stepping with caution but at the same time it is a great adventure because I am a diverse broadcaster.
I grew up as a radio presenter. I can do football commentary, I have been trained, I can cover a golf tournament. I can cast the news and do a lot more. So this is just an opportunity for me to bring to bear what I have learnt to enhance the show. That is what I am bringing in.
For most regular shows like that, they say staff of so and so can’t be part of it. Does that extend to you and your family as far as The Price is Right is concerned?
Yes, it sure does. Because what would you think? Mrs Edoho just won something on The Price is Right, her husband hosts the show, Nigerians are very suspicious and we don’t want that kind of drama, so I think it is only right that our families are excluded from it.
Despite being a big hit on TV, you have voiced your preference for radio
I have tried to own a radio station, it did not quite go well. I have been trying to get my hands on a radio license for the past eight years, they offered me license in Akwa Ibom, I don’t stay in Akwa Ibom. That is my state, I love my state but I don’t stay there and truth is you are not going to get a lot of adverts there. I want a radio that is entertaining and that can at the same time sustain itself.
I wanted Lagos, I couldn’t get Lagos but now we are waiting for the digitalization of broadcasting in Nigeria whereby content will be the primary essence of everything and I do have a lot of content. So my strategy now is just to start producing my content and putting it on other platforms until I get ownership.
